WOW?
52 singles, one a week for a year?. Worry not! We try not to be your typical guitar band; expect a true journey via classic live studio recordings, some Dance beats, Hip hop, and the odd DJ jam, all delivered in the catchiest, hip shaking, mind waking, groove busting, 110% mean it MAAANNN fashion. It’s unique, passionate and guarantees to take you on a
hook crammed genre busting musical journey!
hook crammed genre busting musical journey!
WHAT'S TO LIKE?
Not your typical west coast/UK influenced multi genre hopping jam band?. While we are inspired by accomplished improvisors in the spirit of Phish and The Grateful Dead etc , what we love and makes it special for us is the discovery of an uncanny ability to
come up with hooks n' vibes for catchy singles in one take, on
the spot, in the moment, without rehearsals, discussion, practise or usually any initial input. Couple this with talented guest drummers who we try in most cases to not meet and play with before we play. None of which were given the band name when responding to the bands ad. It had to be unknown and raw from the first beat.
Often no suggestions were made on genre or tempo. It came out as it came out. No drummer was refused or pre-judged in any way. Born out of mixed age, experience and influences we hope helps mark us apart from the usual American way of doing things. A real live improvisational "singles" UK jam band ironically maybe more "jam" so to speak in our songwriting process than many of our older school influences.
252 songs in 108+ hours of live studio time. 101 were written this year (2013) alone. Kinda says it all, though you would probably never know it when you hear the music. We are reaching for alive and ever mutating styles hanging over strong riffs, grooves, beautiful ambience and addictive melodies with cool lyrics a-wash with double meanings, wry and dark humour and heaps of heart felt energy.
Music is consumed faster and more easily than ever before. In an age of austerity, no time and high speed ultra connectedness, we can't help but feel this is an instinctive path to writing music and songs that reflects the moment and lyrically asks the odd question about life how we live in it. When we get over excited (not uncommon) we stroke our chins and fantasize it's possible maybe we somehow ended up with some kind of telepathic connection between us (makes a great story:) . A collective subconscious unites us, etched with myriad influences and personal histories. Supernatural or just super evolution, one thing is for sure....after so many tunes it is certainly not some kind of super fluke!
The growth rate of new material takes us, and you, on a journey spanning many influences from Jam rock, Rock, Pop, Funk, Jazz, Reggae, Dub, Ambient, New wave, Dance, Hip hop, Blues, Soul, Folk, Disco, House, Indie, Post rock, Avant guard, Free music....you name it, we seem to do a whole bunch of stuff (bar Death metal and Gabba!...sorry we're not really that into Death metal and Gabba!) This egokiller is jam band music with some of the fat cut out, older subtle conventions cast aside, and the songwriting and panache elevated to the forefront.
As part of the process we are honoured to work with a multitude of multi style drummers, + incorporate some samples, DJ jams, hip hop grooves and as many intriguing sounds as three guys and (a half a dozen or so special guests) can muster from guitar, bass and keys.
With all profits going to Shelter, Big Issue and Crisis homeless charities,
To maximise the charity appeal the band will continue to collect money for the Homeless for the rest of the year after the
last release up to News year eve 2014. Having previously enjoyed your support for our charity single in aid of the Cancer vacine institute and played numerous shows in aid of charities like The Dogs Trust, Cloth Cat, Hollybush conservation, Unity Day, thanks for supporting our latest endeavour getting behind it and hope the whole thing snowballs and
us and you, can make a difference beyond just music.
